Generic vs brand name imuran.

In theory no, there is no difference between the two. However, some people have a hard time with generic over brand name on anything. They use the baseline medicine but in some meds they use different fillers and/or processing that some people can't tolerate. Some people can't even tolerate meds from different manufacturers.

I take generic mercaptopurine and it seems to work for me but as Red said, they aren't exactly the same.

I don't think it's in your head on a subconscious level....some people do have a certain reaction to generic over brand name. I believe it was Old Hat who was put on Colazal, then switched to generic and it made her worse so she switched back to brand and things got better. For some reason, generic IS a bit different than brand even though, like I said, essentially the active ingredient is the same.

Personally I've never had a problem with generic over brand with anything.
