Lower right side pain

I have this once in a blue moon....well mainly because my stool is hardly ever formed. But when I go to the bathroom and if its solid, I get a sharp pain where my appendix is. It will last for about a half an hour or so. This has been going on for quite a few years now. I've mentioned it to my GI but he just tells me that if the pain doesn't go away to let him know. So is it the appendix or is it something else? Can the appendix "spasm"?

Btw, my UC is in remission. The lack of solid stool is due to IBS and Diverticular disease. With my DD, my pockets are on the lower left and in my transverse.

I have to be careful what I eat for one. I found that even the small seeds found in pickles will send me to the ER for pain control. I avoid foods that are hard to digest such as corn or celery and of course all seeds and nuts.

But the DD causes me to bloat, get random bouts of constipation and/or D, sporadic pains where my pockets are and cramping. I found out tho that when I flare, it tends to aggravate my DD more so maybe this is what your experiencing?

Actually with diverticulosis, a high fiber diet is recommended. But when it becomes diverticulitis, you should be on a low fiber diet until it clears.
