Well. I'll first say I had a poop without blood today yeah

I have started taking Imuran and also back on IV prednisone. I'm somewhat relieved it wasnt Remicade but i dont know if i should be Needless to say, I hope this drug kicks me into remission but I'm so unimpressed and defeated feeling.

I've been trying to read up on Imuran and what I'm mostly wondering is if a person goes into remission and does the other stuff, do they get off of it again?

I'm pretty tired still today, even with the blood transfusion yesterday my hemoglobin is quite low. That takes awhile to build up.

Of course I'm kind of micromanaging my symptoms since I'm just in my isolation room but I can feel heaviness in my throat/chest, my eyes are getting blurrier,headache and some strange piercing sensations up my spine. A limitless bit of pain in my right side with nausea. Nothing intolerable just changes I'm noticing

How long do they monitor you when you start this drug? does it have a different name in the US? I'm just praying for a return health without complications

Azathioprine is the real name Imuran is a brand. Youre gonna be tested weekly, then bi-weekly, then probably monthly after a few months.

Your symptoms could be from the iv prednisone. I was in hospital on it last November. It was no fun.

I was on imuran for 8 years. It took around 3 months to kick in but really worked well for me for a number of years. Besides regular bloodwork I had no side effects from it.

That's great that you had a normalish poop!

I am on 6mp and for me, it seems to keep me in remission, even though I am on a very low dose. I have been in remission for over a year and I have not been able to stop it (haven't tried). I think the theory is that if you get into remission from 6mp/imuran, it works because it reduces the immune systems response - so if you stopped it, your immune system would become overactive again and you would end up with inflammation and eventually be back to square one. What dose of imuran did they start you on? I was not lucky with 6mp from the start, it took me months of close monitoring and ups and downs before I got into remission. I never had high WBC so you wouldn't think my immune response was the cause of my inflammation but whatever it was, it seems to be calmed these days. I also took an antidepressant when I was tapering off pred because my emotions were so out of whack and I think that helped to balance me.
