Abdominal bloating & distention

This is my only symptom, besides a little gas here and there. I work out 2-4 times a week, am slim, 145lbs, you would never really notice unless I point it out, or showed you a picture, but it bothers me. Doctor wants to do more testing.

I've tried to address possible food allergens, removing gluten, limit grains, sugar + dairy
I wonder if this is acceptable for someone with UC?
If I need to undergo more testing for possible viral infections/bacteria, such as h.pylori, yeast, parasite... ?
Spinal related issue?

I've noticed this in pictures i've taken of myself, since I was about 18, slowly getting worse.

Anyone else have this issue?

I get bloating like crazy. I look like I'm 6 months pregnant half the time! I can't help you with a solution tho. I am still looking for one myself!

Are you in remission?

Since UC Dx, I toot a lot but a LOT when in flare.
So unless your food habits are a cause, nothing pops in my mind. Food habits like, raw greens, little chewing, lack of (less) digestive enzymes etc.

Red, i'm the same way after having certain foods, but its almost like I can't draw from a specific event!

delta, i would say i'm remission, 1-2BM's a day, but the gas and bloating are still here after healing for some time.

I'm a slow eater, so I hope I chew long enough.

I was taking digestive enzymes from my doctor for a few months in summer, no difference noticed.

Have you done any testing lately?

I can't pinpoint my bloating to various foods either - for instance, I can have one food with no bloating and than week later, have same one food and I bloat. But I have other gut issues besides UC so perhaps that can be causing the variation of symptoms.

I've never had specific testing to determine it, just the usual scopes. I'm not a big fan of food intolerance/allergy testing because they're notoriously unreliable.

HA! riiiight. there's nothing flattering down there lol.

Well i'll gladly trade stomachs, all of this P90X ab work is doing no justice!

I experience gas and bloating after eating certain foods, especially those containing lactose, gluten or fiber.

Have been trying to increase fiber intake after colonoscopy revealed diverticulosis (pouches) and GI suggested more fruits and veggies to avoid diverticulitis (infection).

The only thing that consistently relieves my discomfort is slippery elm powder. I mix a couple of tsp in a few ounces of juice or water. Can add honey or stevia to make it more palatable.

It worked this week after eating brussels sprouts and after eating broccoli (not at the same time.)

Just be careful to take it a couple of hours after meds.
It's now a habit for me to drink it just before going to bed.

I find peppermint tea (1-3 cups daily) to really help bloating and abdominal discomfort!

I heartily agree that being bloated makes us trim folks look pretty bad. Sit-ups and exercise has helped me some, but I think I'm also carrying a lb or too up front also because I have some new- to- me" lovehandles" now.

I think they look a bit worse than the bloat. It looks like my first summer Ever having to keep my shirt on.

I haven't been able to tie it in with what I eat or drink yet, I Do take gas pills, but I haven't' tried any supplements.

Way better than immediately following my last flare tho.

Good suggestions, I'll try to make more of an effort with peppermint tea and the slippery elm, I have GI repair powder which contains it, so maybe I will take before bed...

Today is like national diarrhea day for me -- i think the GF pizza i had last night was just no bueno!
