I had a friend who had Crohn's and was misdiagnosed for almost a year by her family doctor who was treating her for diverticulosis. It wasn't until she became desperately ill and her parents rushed her to the hospital where GI diagnosed her properly. The poor girl almost died.
My symptoms first appeared in the fall of 1998, urgency, bleeding, cramping and rapid loss of weight. My husband took me to the ER, they admitted me and the GI diagnosed me with UC, which was a correct diagnosis.
