OT: Car troubles

On my way home from work, my car just plain stopped running as I am driving down the road. Would not accelerate, nothing. I still had power as my lights and radio were still working.

The kicker is that today was day I was commuting from our satellite office which is an 1.5 hour away from my home. 44 miles and $179 later for a tow, I am home. Not trying to stress myself out over what the issue is, but we will have to wait and see.  Going to bed now for some much needed downtime.

 

Glad you're okay! that's something to think about if you're stressed about it after getting stranded like that and stopping all at once!

I have a Honda Civic and yes I had fuel. In fact i just filled up about 30 min prior to my car sputtering then eventually ceasing to run. It was the right grade so I'm thinking fuel pump and or filter. Either way, i'm anxious to hear my mechanic's diagnosis and of course the bill.

Sorry to hear about your car troubles. It sounds, to me, like either your 12-volt accessory battery went or the alternator. Either is under $200 to fix. I had a car die while driving it just like you described, had it towed, and it was the 12-volt accessory battery.
