I came across a perspective on treating IBD that resonated with me today...
It basically said to look at treating IBD in five year terms. This is because within five years something new will most likely be offered for treatment, and knowledge of IBD will be greatly improved. This is certainly true of my ten year experience with UC if I think back on it. It gives me a little relief, and a little strength to carry on in the face of uncertainty.

Sounds stressful to me. Im staying positive and healing myself for life, not for just 5 years. Plus who knows if they do find anythinf new or wont.

Haha, Madcat... I am looking at stopping Remicade with who knows what around that corner. Five years sounds unbelievably far away.
It'sAlwaysSomething... personal life is great! I am still dealing with the mono thing... but I'm also still in love. I'm taking the relationship a week at a time, and seeing what happens. I am crazy about
her though! haha
Hope you're both doing well!

What new treatments have surfaced since your first diagnosis Thoreau?

Max... as far as I know, both Remicade and Humira were not options in 2003 when I was diagnosed.
Besides those biologics, other ones seem to be on the way. Plus, we're learning more and more about
the microbial makeup of the digestive system, and their functions. AND, we have researchers looking into things like LDN.
There's a lot more I don't even know of I'm sure. Things seem hopeful to me.
