Anyone know a good GI in Chicago?

Just moved here....Recommendations welcome.

Criteria

1) open to diet changes as a supplement to meds
2) Doesn't take 5 months to get an appointment
3) Doesn't think he needs to "manage" me by seeing me every three months
4) Thinks Healing Well is cool (optional)

Hi,
I'm not in Chicago..but I think a top GI doc is. Dr. Stephan Hanauer is his name. I'm in NJ, so I don't go to him, but people on the web seem to like him.

 Hi,

 My daughter's GI is Dr. David Rubin.(University of Chicago medial center).

 He supports diet as supplementary to meds. ..

 He mentioned he is very familiar with healing well forum....

 Regarding appointment I am not sure...but you can ask for any possible cancellation so that they can plug you in...

 We been there only once for the initial appointment.

 He didn't insist on seeing every 3 months  or so unless it's getting very uncontrollable.

 All concerns are so far well handled thru email and phone with his fellow GI -an AWESOME  extremely caring doc.

Dr.Stephen Hanuaer  too is in the same hospital...Heard a lot of good things about him too....

Hi Ellen,

If you do go to Dr. Hanauer, pls let me know what he says.  He is a Dr I would like to see...but am just too far.  From what I have read, he is very practical.  Dr . Rubin sounds good too, so pls keep us posted.
