I feel so bad today! I'm only 41 but it's become obvious with the hot flushes with my periods.. Need to see the Dr. I get very emotional as well. Anxious, cramping, Blahhhhh I feel like I'm 15 again!

Don't know about that beatuc...from my own experiences and explanation from 4 different GI's over the many yrs I've been dealing with IBD, oral pred will generate a higher chance of side effects compared to enema form because it simply doesn't go into the blood stream the same way oral pred does.

oral pred is systemic to treat the whole body.... and a much higher dosage for a much longer time since it's usually tapered very slowly.

Pred, taken high dosage of 60mg, tapered to 0 in 10 days should garner many side effects.

I think it also has a lot to do with adrenal gland functioning in conjunction with the steroid use.

I've used inhaled steroid for asthma for over 25 years...no side effects from it. AND I double it during colds/flu...anything that's respiratory related that affects my asthma...still no side effects from it.

The dosages are relative to how much would be absorbed....because the use would be continued with the rectals, I would think. More direct sides such as thinning/fragile tissue would be likely.
