I have a major issue with buying grass fed cuts of meat and thinking this is reproducing a primitive diet. I base this somewhat on spending 20 years living in the middle of the forest and hunting for most of my protein. I also know a evolutionary biologist that brought up the fact that various human populations(ethnic groups) had very different food backgrounds. A tribe living near the ocean might never eat meat at all. A tribe in the far north might eat almost all meat during the winter. The bacteria in the guts of different ethic groups actually removes food toxins from plants that would make some people sick. I don't think you can ignore that a large part of the hunter gathers diet was insects, worms, decayed offal ...stuff that nobody on the paleo diet eats. Lean cuts of beef steak are not what a hunter eats every night. Primitive people had different idea which cuts were prime and didn't throw anything away.
I do think that wild game or grass fed traditional live stock breeds are better for you than corn fattened factory farmed meat. It is just healthier.I also think the over use of antibiotics and the resulting changes in gut flora are the most likely cause of more or more severe IBD and other autoimmune problems. If cost is a problem, buy a hunting license or make friends with a small farmer and buy an entire cow, sheep etc..or start collecting grass hoppers or clams.
Couldn't the improved symptoms with a high meat diet simply be from reduced fiber ie constipating?Vension especially and old animal will plug you up like 5 pounds of rags or 3 days of cheese pizza. That could involve no reduction in inflammation.
