I have my acute colitis under control with Apriso. Only one flare in 2 years and that was a little self inflicted. My problem is the price, as I now have no insurance and have to pay $230 per month and this is using the @100 voucher from Apriso. Anyone have any suggestion to get it cheaper.

You could try a Canadian Pharmacy but i am not sure you will find prices lower than what you're getting with $100 off. Have you considered trying different medication? Colazal has a generic, Asacol has a generic available in Canada, some manufacturers have patient assistance programs.

Just curious. How many pills do you take a day? My insurance is going to run out within the year and I am currently not getting benefits at my job.

you could switch to the generic 5-asa pills for maintenance

I have an entire unopened bottle of Apriso in my cupboard that I can't bring myself to throw away. GI considered it a fail for me & Colazol has been much better.....

[I know your intent is good but it's illegal to exchange medication.]

I take 4 per day. Am scared to change. May look into colazol. What is the difference between these meds?

There shouldn't be much difference between a generic and a brand name. I am about to switch and it scares me but I switched from Asacol to Lialda recently without issue so I am hoping the generic works the same. I can't afford brand name right now. I have to go 2-3 months without name brand.

notsosicklygirl - sorry & thanks for keeping me in line

ANNYAIN - I'm not sure the difference... for me, I got worse while on Prednisone & Apriso (it spread from my rectum to the sigmoid per flex sig 7/2012). My GI then stopped the Apriso and started Colazal and Prednisone, the next sigmoid showed my colon healed entirely - but my rectum had become severe.

I think everyone reacts differnetly to things for whatever reason -
