Miralax prep colonoscopy mistake

I am supposed to be prepping (Miralax) for a colonoscopy on Friday. I got my number of days confused. Three days before the colonoscopy you aren't supposed to have nuts. I had three mini snickers ice cream bars. I also may have had multigrain bread. I will call my doctor tomorrow and ask but do you guys know tonight if it will screw up my colonoscopy?

I don't think so. I don't remember having any instructions of what to do 3 days in advance. I ate as normal until the day before and then prepped and things went fine. I would just give them a call but I think you should be okay.

I had that same thing on my prep instructions. Its because they can leave a residue. You still have a full two days before your scope. I think you would be ok but you can call your doctor to make sure.

Man, it used to be a one day prep, which changed to a 2 day prep, and now it's a 3 day prep?

A lot of practices request that people go on a low residue diet for up to a week before the colonoscopy. I was under the impression that it was because prep the night before is a LOT easier if you haven't been eating lots of seeds and salad.

Just stick to the diet and call your doctor. I'd really be surprised if they rescheduled you. You're probably fine.

I think the miralax will clean you out. that stuff is super strong. just eat low residue until then.

I am curious if Miralax is enough to clean up for colonoscopy. It is not really as aggressive at pulling water in intestine as Magnesium salts.

But no matter what you eat, if you use the prep as directed, it will clean the heck out of intestines. Just don't eat stuff like meats before that.

Thanks everyone. The nurse said that it is just so that the prep is easier.
