Is blood ok?

If I am having formed bms 1-2 times daily with little to no pain, is it ok if there is blood? Blood is usually at the beginning of the poop and gone by the end and is darker in color. I have been Pred free since Jan 30 after almost a year of use and do not want to go there again!

I think it depends... if it is the last symptom from a flare, in my opinion and experience it can linger for a long time.. (months.. ) so i don't worry too much about it but keep treating it.

But if you were in remission and it is starting to re-appear, then it is not good and most likely a sign that another flare is coming/starting!

What color is the blood? How much blood is there? Is it there only when you wipe? If it's light and there are little to trace amounts of it, it's probably a hemorrhoid. If it's darker, I would let your doctor know because it might be from higher in the digestive tract but, it can also be the iron pills if you take any.

Blood isn't good if you're flaring.

Is the blood a strip down the side of your stool?

Do you go throughout the day with just mucus and blood..no stool?

Blood is darker and no mucus. It showed back up when my stool became firmer. At first it was only when I wiped, but now it is noticeable in the bowl. No mucus or urgency.

If internal hemmie, is taking Imuran worthwhile?

If it was bright blood with no symptoms then I would tend to think it would be a hemmie, but darker blood indicates bleeding higher in the intestinal tract. How long have you seen the blood?

Has the blood just appeared recently or have you been having it over the last few weeks? I would say that if you had no blood before and you are starting to see blood now then that is not a good sign.

I saw bright red blood for quite a while and thought it was from the UC. Turned out to be from hemmies.

Still see blood from time to time but it's always the hemmies reminding me that they are irritated.

Oop's, just noticed that you said the blood is "darker" in color.

Could be coming from higher up in the digestive tract.  Probably should mention it to your GP or GI.

Blood that sits in the rectum between bms would be darker than bright...so it's not necessarily higher in the colon.

My blood is darker, rarely bright unless I'm flaring and having diarrhea.

Mixed with mucus or salofalk, it can look fairly dark.

First sign of blood was redder and on the tp, so I figured it was irritation or hemmi close to rectum. That appeared on an off for couple days. Nothing for day or so, then I ate yogurt for lunch one day. That messed me up alittle by making me bloated, gassy, and blood with poop.
The blood I am seeing now is darker and at the beginning of morning bms which are still formed with no urgency or mucus.

Really don't want to do more meds. Hoping I can just ride it out.

Rectal meds where the only thing that got rid of my blood - mine was the UC though and i would consider any blood caused by UC to be bad
