Is this normal

I've been bleeding a lot and in pain and lots of mucus so finally stopped avoiding the pentasa enemas. Used one last night, was great I slept straight through the night (first time in about two months) no pain today but I've like excreted black tarry mucus.
Is black tar like mucus normal?
