Bleeding despite 60 mg pred

The first few days on pred have been fairly well. My stool went from d to formed and bleeding subsided. I just went to use the restroom and I had a toilet wipe full of blood. Why??? cry

so many variables to pinpoint a single one. could be stress, could be diet, just keep an eye on it and see if it subsides

Since it has only been a few days, I agree with jac, keep an eye... It sounds like you've seem improvement and that is great. It can take more than a few days to get back to 100%. Have you had any pain with BM? I have a fissure that causes a ton of blood but there is also pain like razors.

It happened to me occasionally too when i was was first put on prednisone
60 mg of it is a pretty high dose, so if it happened once dont worry about it to much unless the bleeding returns more.

I don't have a fissure because I don't have that kind of pain. I don't even know how it would feel like.

It happened twice. This night I had nothing but normal stool color on my toilet paper so I guess that's good. But I don't look forward to more blood.

I would love to start SCD again but it's so hard to do.

Could be just a bad day. You may have some down days but overall youre doing better. Keep it up!

Do you have any history of internal hemis? Hoping that is what it is.

I don't have hemis. I think my GI would have told me so when he scoped me a week ago.

It's still bleeding cry

I am in your position as well. The 60mg a day didn't help - been about 3 weeks now & I'm down to 30mg a day since it quit working for me.... off to surgical consult today...

Progress on pred is not linear. There are two steps forward and one step backwards sometime.

musicmaker I heard. I hope it goes well for you.

soystud, I've been eating whatever. I'm thinking about at least eating more soups and soft foods instead of all the bad stuff.

I'm still on 60 mg and I had lots of mucus and blood just now. I so want to scream out loud.

Im so sorry you are going through this terrible time. The toughest battle is emotional when you see that depsite everything there is still blood and mucous.

You need to look at other options you have available...like FT..? or triple antibiotic therapy?

Not sure what an antibiotic therapy would do since I don't have c-diff.

FT... I don't know where to start. I feel so alone and I'm almost sure my GI wouldn't help me. I wouldn't be able to find a donor either.

I'm still on 60 mg I was hoping to start tapering next month.

Yesterday and today I've been bleeding sooo much. I have perfect bm's however when I wipe the toilet paper is pure red. I don't know what to do. The bleeding has been fine in the last couple of days so I don't understand.

I've been trying to be careful with food. I was mostly doing SCD (not 100%) but I felt a lot better. No mucus, no urgency. Perfectly formed bm's, sometimes just a little blood but tolerable. And now this again sad I was even doing chicken soup on Friday because I had some pain. On Saturday I had some alcohol however. Does alcohol affect your colon? Can it make it bleed?

Alcohol tears me up, so I've stopped drinking.

I just bled for weeks straight (red toilets) on 60mg of prednisone. My new GI switched me to budesonide and hydrocortisone enemas. I am finally bleeding less after two weeks! Hang in there!

I want to switch to budesonide too. I will do enemas again as well. I have been feeling well so I stopped them but I think since the blood is really red it's from the rectum. Gosh I hope it stops soon.

I went to the ER yesterday but they didn't do much. They got me an appointment with my GI for today however. I wonder what he will do.

I saw my GI today and he changed my meds. I'm allowed to taper pred. He gave me a prescription for Uceris and Colozal. He also allows me to up Imuran to 100 mg.
