Hi Stacee. On the positive side, if you can get into a good remission, you could have a very long period of time with no symptoms at all. Did you see your biopsy results? It seems contradictory that she said you have ulcerative proctitis but she also mentioned a bacteria. Which one is it? Anyway, it's great that you had such great luck with Canasa but the symptoms you experienced could be a sign that you're sensitive to mesalamine which would make oral meds difficult for you. I wouldn't say it's definitely the case, maybe you had a bug that caused those side effects and it had nothing to do with the Canasa. Have you tried dit again since you felt sick from it? The thing about Canasa is that you should really find a regimen that works for you. Most people use it nightly or every few nights at the least. We believe that maintenance medication is usually required to keep us in remission. Try to stay calm, there is a lot of trial and error that goes into finding a treatment that works for you but you will get there.
