Anyone taking oatbran regularly? Anything with the word "bran" in it strikes fear into my heart but this study suggests it can help raise the all important butyrate?

Interesting. The article was from 2003. I would be afraid to eat that much fiber. I have enough gas already. I have eaten small amounts of oatmeal though on an irregular basis and I don't seem to remember getting worse.

pure fart food for me...I'd never take it on a regular basis except maybe in a
cookie or two occasionally.
But psyllium husk capsules have been perfect for me so far.

So have tried the last few days a couple of teaspoons of oatbran and quarter cup of oatmeal porridge made with water. Am adding a dash of butter and a small amout of blueberries. All of these have been shown to help production of butyrate so I am hoping it is butyrate superfood! Am tolerating so far, insides are very sensitive as coming out of suspected c diff exacerbated flare.

My parents got a bran muffin recipe out of a local resturant that they loved and they have cooked them for 15 years now. For a while my dad would bring me one every morning at work and I never had a problem with them. They were made out of oatbran cereal. Maybe I should revisit them. Plus I wouldn't have to worry about
breakfast ;)

Let me know how you get on, I am hoping to be able to build up a tolerance to oatbran. As I said above, I have so long avoided anything with the word bran in it because of impossibility to tolerate wheat bran for me, but maybe oatbran is easier. I wondered about
oat intolerance, I have bought some Aveeno hand cream with oatmeal to test as usually my skin comes up if I am allergic/intolerant to something and seems OK so far....
