Hey, I am so happy you're having luck! my GI is very forward thinking and I am thankful she was willing to let me try the combo - I've seen people here who said their GIs wouldn't allow it. I was only on it for a few months and I had a lot of situations where my WBC dropped very low, to the point I was seeing a hematologist weekly, but after all of the craziness, things balanced out and I have been able to maintain on 25mg of 6mp. I feel very lucky. I don't think allo is a longterm solution either because it can cause nuetropenia, in my case, more so than others because my normal WBC was only about 6 normally. Just make sure to get your blood checked regularly, I bounced on and off allo and different doses of 6mp before I got into remission. i was scared to stop allo but I did and I've actually been able to half my Lialda dose, I don't use Canasa every night anymore. I am thankful that I have stabilized. I hope you continue to feel well.
My GI did offer me Humira and Remicade but I am a little bit scared of shots and I hate the idea of spending so much time getting an infusion when I already work 40-50 hours a week (plus a long commute). Once you're stable, your GI will probably let you stop allopurinol and hopefully you stay in remission for a LONG time :)
