Tornado, I find that its better to focus on reducing the inflammation by treating with the meds your doctor prescribed (for a specific length of time) also modifying your diet. It's a process, its tough, but you have to keep experimenting with what does and doesn't work.
Once you have control over your bowels, have less pain, little blood, then I would suggest looking into alternative therapies for candida. You don't want supplements to pass through you or become a toy in the malabsorption that happens in acute stages of UC.
I recommend asking your doctor, or a naturopathic doctor about
the supplements: ADP, Phytostan and Paraguard. They were effective for me, but only in conjunction with the Candida-Control Diet Program

My best advice is, if you are not finding a balance that some find by only using medicine, then its time to seek out other therapies.
