In an intent-to-treat analysis of data 52 weeks after the initial dose, Dr. Feagan’s team found that 44.8% (56 of 125) of patients who received the monthly dose of the drug and 41.8% (51 of 122) of bimonthly drug recipients achieved clinical remission, which they defined as a Mayo score of 2 or lower and no individual subscores greater than 1. Remission rates in both groups were significantly higher than the 15.9% (20 of 126) rate of remission at 52 weeks among clinical responders randomized to receive placebo following the initial induction phase (P<0.0001).

Rates of mucosal healing, defined as a Mayo endoscopic subscore less than or equal to 1, also were significantly higher in both treatment arms than in the placebo group (56% and 51.6% for monthly and bimonthly groups, respectively vs. 19.8% for placebo; P<0.0001).

Takeda has applied for authorization to market Vedolizumab in Europe. Looks like our friends in the European Union will get first crack at it. Could still be a while before it is available here in North America.

Deltaforce: GIs like yours should be disqualified from practising bc they are the very people keeping only medieval medications available to people with UC. It's bc of GIs like yours that UC sufferers only have a handful of meds available when they flare.
Clearly, Uceris is Not like pred, it's a lower dose and it is topical not systemic like the pred crap.

Deltaforce--that is b.s. Seriously..she thinks it is the same in terms of side effects? Sounds like it is time to change GI's. Is she talking about the new UCeris or does she mean the Entocort that has been used for mostly Crohn's? I realize that it is Entocort in UCeris but I think the special MMX coating makes a big difference. Maybe she is just not up on the latest. That really blows.
