Hi, Rey. Is she still teaching elementary school? It's very demanding work; a teacher at that level has to constantly be on alert so it's bound to exhaust someone with a chronic health condition. I hope she can get at least 7-8 hrs sleep nightly, and check with the internist to rule out mono. Does she still have tonsils? Problems with them can cause throat lymph glands to swell, too. This past October I started feeling very tired & noticed my tonsils were enlarging. I had some Peridex (anti-bacterial dental solution) left over from implant procedures-- so I decided to dab some on tonsils with Q-tips twice daily. It definitely helped me by the 3rd day of use so I kept up this routine for a couple weeks. Tonsils shrank quite a lot, and I felt less tired. When I mentioned the Peridex effect to my dentist a few weeks later, she said it was legitimate use and commented that other topical antibacterial solutions can treat the throat glands successfully, too. SO-- I hope your daughter can bring her problem under control without any major change to daily UC meds. Best wishes to you both! / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
