I've been having fluctuating symptoms all year, despite being on 6mp, nightly mes. enemas, and trying a lot of other things.
To make it through the end of the school year, he wants to prescribe me 40mg of pred, have me stay on that dose for 2 weeks and then taper 10mg a week.
I've been on pred once before and it helped a lot at first, then slowly my symptoms returned. Additionally, I got a lot of acne from it, which I hated. So it's not my miracle drug.
I have a lot of stomach discomfort, but only a small amount of bleeding and still go only once a day, though with no form to my stools.
Should I ask him about uceris (this sounds like a better option were it not for the fact that studies don't reveal a high success rate). Is uceris really a quick fix like pred, or is it not nearly as potent?
What would you tell/ask my GI? Do I have other options? I feel boxed because my symptoms aren't severe, yet nothing seems to make them go away.. I feel like I need help, but I understand the dangers of pred and don't even know if it helps me much.
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
Chicago
