I've never been told to take them...I do take them with some supper meals, none other.
To me, dependency is if you need them, not if you don't, or possibly eating foods that would create lots of gas such as extreme fibrous foods/beans/veggies, etc.
You mentioned a study on dependency, but with a question mark. Then it's a definitive. I would like to read it.
I've done my homework on enzymes to the capacity for my own needs.
