I feel perfectly fine. I go to the bathroom and feel the need to pass stool (formed or not). I sit on the pot and the process begins...a little gas...a little pain...then my mouth starts watering...then I feel the push...more campy pain..then I start dry heaving...then it's pushing and heaving. Finally, a piece of stool about the size of a big toe comes out. Sometimes this is accompanied with actual vomit. I sit alittle longer and all is done.

Everyone keeps saying I need nausea meds, but I am not nauseous! This usually happens 2-3times a day. Yes there is some blood in all this. I have not taken (and kept) Imuran since Thursday.

As a note, I did not experience this at all yesterday. I believe it is because I had not eaten since Saturday, when I threw up everything during my last bm. ER all day Sunday with just fluids therefore, no bms yesterday. I am glad to see formation of my stool, but I am to the point that I do not want to eat anything because I know it will create this cycle.

Oh, also ER doc after conferring with GI, put me back on 40mg of Pred which I started yesterday. And yes, I experienced the cycle this morning.

I used to throw up with bms but havent in 9 months. It was from cramping

From my own experience, and from what my GI has told me, this isn't all that uncommon. The feeling that you need to pass stool, but there's no stool is tenesmus, which is a really common UC symptom.

When I was having nearly the same symptoms are you're having, I'd get urgency well before my body was ready to go to the bathroom. It was because there were ulcerations higher up in my colon. I never vomited when I'd have these bathroom trips, but I would come very close, and I would definitely be in a lot of pain.

I am so grateful to hear that I am not the only one who has experienced this. It has made me crazy this weekend telling everyone in the ER and my family that I am not nauseous! No one seems to get it. Shoot, I have thought about getting a t-shirt saying "I'M NOT NAUSEOUS!!!"

Joanna... do you only do it during a flare or prelude to a flare? Mine quit for a time, but has come back these last few weeks.

The mouth watering was my main sign that I was about to have an urgent BM while in the midst of severe flaring. I actually had forgotten about it until I saw this thread! Definitely not just you.
