Entocort ER and UC

Has anyone else had luck with Entocort ER, it is working for me, I thought that was a Crohn's medication. I had focal lesions in my ileum has anyone else had that with UC? I am starting to think my doctor thinks I have Crohn's, not UC I just have been too afraid to ask him about it.

I am slowly improving on budesonide and azthioprine. So far, it is mostly the steroid, while we wait for the other to kick in (five weeks in, may take as many as twelve weeks to be effective.)

Yup I'm on prednisone 30 mg and 9mg of entocort and its the only med that seems to have finally have gotten my symptoms under control. When I tried tapering from pred from 40 mg to 20 before I relapsed so I asked my doctor for uceris but he gave me entocort

Is Entocort ER different than Entocort, or is it the same thing? You should just flat out ask your doctor what he thinks but Entocort does work occasionally in UC so just that fact alone doesn't necessarily mean you have Crohns.

entocort made the bleeding and moucus almost completely stop but I had several secondary infecions and I gained over 40 pounds and started having symptoms of diabetes so I am being weaned off it. the same day they lowered my first dose my symptoms all came back it did not help with pain and cramping or pain when my bowels moved though

Entocort is given to ashma patients in inhaler form must work on inflammation

Entacort can reach the Ileum....which is good if the disease is there. It too is budesonide and much safer than pred. Perhaps it's the pred that's causing the weight gain. It happened to me. If you need budesonide in the entire colon use Uceris. It's indicated for flares with UC

Entocort is released in the first part of the ileum and goes from there into the colon. How far down I would think depends on how long it lasts in the colon. It's not that it CAN reach the ileum.

OP..If your UC is pancolitis, then it's a good med to use if you cannot use mesalamines or that they haven't worked well enough for you. If you have backwash UC, it can help that as well.

I do hope you're also on rectal meds.

Entocort can cause all the same symptoms of Prednisone..especially for those who are on it for extended period of time or for those who are extremely sensitive to steroids.
