I try to take most promising supplements at least once to see if it affects me. I have read that in laboratory animals of different species, carnosine supplementation extends life spans. But for some reason I have never tried carnosine until very recently.
I could not find Zinc L-carnosine but I have been taking zinc for years thru my multivite. Supposedly many Chronies are deficient because zinc is absorbed in the small intestines and that might explain why some with fistulas and abscess heal slowly. Zinc is vital for tissue repair.
So I tried carnosine alone and I am not sure but I think it helps. I figure my body is smart enough to put 2 and 2 together and let my available zinc work synergistically with the carnosine. The jury is still out and I want to continue it longer before including it in my signature. It seems promising.

Here is what my book, Inside Tract, by Gerad Mullin (excellent book and author who is the head of Integrative Gastroenterolgy at Johns Hopkins - also a masters degree in clinical nutrition) says about zinc carnosine:
"Zinc L-carnosine - a form of zinc that is bound to the amino acid L-carnosine - has a number of properties that guard the lining of your digestive tract. Clinically, zinc L-Carnosine has been found to protect the gut's mucosal lining." He cites a few studies demonstrating that in Crohn's patients, low zinc blood levels are common and that supplemention with zinc significantly decreased small intestinal permeability. He cites another study showing a correlation of correction of zinc deficiency and IBD improvement.
