Remicade looks to have run its course...

I started Remicade in Oct of 2012, and just had my 6th I believe infusion this week. Up until the past couple of weeks, it had put me 90% of the way to remission. Sadly now, I seem to be barreling head on towards a flare again and the infusion had no effect. I'll be having a blood test to see if I've built up anit-bodies, maybe they can adjust the dose and frequency but I am somewhat doubtful. All other medicines I have taken so far have failed me...

Humira is all I see on the horizon as an option, as unlikely as it may be. And I'd be interested in trying Uceris to help with this newest flare. Just frustrating to see your options dwindling to nothing.

I'm in remission but I am having a mobile blood drawer come to my house on May 6th from Prometheus to test my blood. I am having symptoms return about 6 weeks post infusion. So this test will tell if I am building antibodies or if its just losing its effectiveness. I'm hoping its just the effectiveness and not antibodies because if its losing its steam I can go to every 6 weeks or increase my dosage. But if I am building antibodies against it, I may have to stop it. Which I would hate to do because I just had a scope 3 days ago that showed 100% healed.

So I'm in the same boat as you, except its still working but maybe not as it should. Honestly, I don't even know if I want to try Humira if the Remi fails me. I might just opt for surgery. Btw, all the other meds have failed me too.

Had another infusion, dose was upped to 7.5mg/kg. Still not getting to remission, but the infusion does seem to remove blood and stools seem more formed. Having a good amount of pain/urgency and fatigue still. I'm starting to think this will be the last Remicade. So very frustrating.

Back to the doctor to ask about Humira or Simponi perhaps. Any other suggestions for rectal pain? Probably need to ask about steroid enemas, as I cannot tolerate mesalamines.
