Hey everyone. This seems like a disappointing way to introduce myself but here goes. I'm 27 years old and I have had a diagnoses of UC for about
7 years. After a treatment of asacol and prednisone and a lengthy hospital stay about
7 years ago I have been primarily flare free. I maintained medication free and have eaten a low inflammation diet. This March I started to exhibit some sure signs of a flare and went to my dr. I asked that he let me try to manage before trying asacol or prednisone and he agreed. After increasing pain, mucus, blood and urgency I called my dr and he prescribed asacol 800mg three times a day. After 6 days of almost no food or water and 25-20 trips to bathroom to pass blood, mucus and whole asacol pills I went to the emergency room. This was on Wednesday of last week. The ER started me on predisone, hydrated me and told me to follow up with my dr. I have an appt with my DR next week. After two days on the prednisone the urgency and pain stopped and the mucus present considerably decreased. I have slowly started eating some foods again but have kept to to kefir and chicken and rice soup. Today I had 3 bowel movements each preceded by intense pain. Each stool was very small and clay colored, almost white. Has anyone else experienced this clay colored stool? I am calling my doctor in the morning but am trying to ease my mind within this community of people who clearly understands.
Thanks for reading this!

ya, i've had those - pretty much every color you find in a box of crayons - doesn't sound too concerning to me, but then again, i'm a man -
oh ya, drink more water !

Dr upped my prednisone after speaking with me today. :( Currently trying not to have a complete break down. I've lost about
10 pounds since last week and have gotten so little sleep its wearing on me. I'm a full time college student and I work full time in a demanding feel and I just feel out of control. He prescribed trazadone for sleep, but I really hate taking medications. I begged for an alternative to the prednisone and he just doesn't see one. I feel totally defeated.

I don't think I've ever had clay coloured stool but I've seen white from enemas. I think you may be having these stool from your fasting. Keep eating and hopefully the colour will change.
