Larch arabinogalactan

Looking at sources of butyrate, and found larch arabinogalactan.

As a fermentable fiber, it doesn't seem to be FODMAP friendly, so I can't try it now.

Any experiences?

Larch AG acts as a food supply to friendly intestinal bacteria. Like the well-known fructooligosaccharides (FOS), AG is considered a "prebiotic." The non-absorbed fiber is eagerly fermented by the distal gut microflora, resulting in an elevated production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)—primarily butyrate, but also propionate. SCFAs are critically important to the health of the colon and are the principal energy source (butyrate) for the colonic epithelial cells. (8,9) Many clinicians use prebiotics to prevent and treat intestinal conditions like diverticulosis, leaky-gut, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as well as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn's and ulcerative colitis.

Studies have shown that larch AG consumption reduces intestinal ammonia generation. (5) Reducing ammonia is significant because even low ammonia levels can have damaging effects on intestinal colonic cells. (6) AG may especially benefit patients with liver disease who are unable to detoxify ammonia, resulting in hepatic encephalopathy. (4,6,7)

I like apple pectin alot.. and psyllium

Tornado, gotta admit.. dunno how you are determining you arent reacting to things like butter if your gut is still having so many problems. reactions are not always immediate, or even something gastro related. The can be immune mediated.

Just wanted to check if you tried it. I am considering it too.

But why do you say that 'not supposed to take it with prednisone, azathioprine or infliximab'?

Im The Pat guy that the article refers too that Sarav 84 posted on my uc. Yes, I've been in remission since 2012. The only thing I'm on is Humira and my dr has lessened the amount and may even more. Arabinogalactin also can fight colds etc. and I swear by it period.
If you read that link you will see my story and yes it's all true. I'm lucky to be alive let alone keep my colon and lead a normal life. I found the mix of a good and strict GI dr and a good naturopath dr are the key. I'm not one to take drugs and I'm not happy about Humira but I'm a bit scared to stop taking it just yet. So with eating healthy and things like probiotics and arabinogalactin powder and foods that are anti inflammatory like chili peppers I believe you can beat this thing. I was on all the other drugs mentioned by all of you and everyone I had a reaction too and many almost killed me. Another thing is Kay off processed food and sugars as they assist in inflammation and are just plain bad to eat.
Oh, arabinogalactin was given to me by a naturopath dr. Also my GI is ok with me taking it as was a GI I went to see in Philadelphia who is top rated in the country. He was intrigued to say the least.

I use vital nutrients brand in a powder. It was what my naturopath dr first gave me so I stuck with it.
I take 1 teaspoon in water or juice up to three times a day.
It's pretty much tasteless so adding it to water is fine.
Circumurin is also a good thing to take.
