It's good to have a site like this to ask questions exactly like this though. I'm sure many on here have been darn tempted to try these things and a few probably have. And I bet a few are curious but just don't want to ask on here... So it;s nice to have a place to turn to.

$1,000 bucks US is a little steep to take a chance. Especially on something like this... But where they get us, I think, is that we sit around and say "what if" along with our desperation to get off meds or feel semi-normal... That's what makes it tempting to try. I mean really... what if... and we convince ourselves to open our wallets.

For a while there was another "distance healer" around these parts (Canada and the US). He was a young guy, maybe late teens. He would actually travel around and do these conventions. My stepmom tried to get me to go once. I forget what the price was but it wasn't cheap. Then you could buy the book after... or schedule private "distance healing" sessions. His parents put on the whole thing. Crazy.

Anyway, I don't think he's around anymore and perhaps has been shut down.

It probably seems darn tempting after the initial consult. It;s supposed to be. But honestly you'd be better putting the $1,000 into something else.

If the OP believes in the healer there is the possibility of remission due to placebo effect. Some doctor/patient relationships also receive this benefit. Our human minds are both strong and weak at the same time.

I did trial the distance healing for a month, I did have improvement and then fell backwards up a bit but realised that it was never going to be a true test while i was on meds so.......... I gave up on Mr Ginsburg.

The point of this post is that i owe a lot not to trying this per se but more to the fact of the journey I had set myself on. That is the journey of looking at alternative methods of healing.

I tried change of diet, LDN, this crock, accupuncture and so the flair continued with controlled symptoms through pred dependence.

How does it end, well I guess it never ends does it, the disease we have is always there. BUT if i did not try things that made no sense to me I would never have ended up having TCM treatment by a master of chinese medicine called Mazin Al Khafaji (he is actually iranian by the way but had lived in China many years). He operates out of a respectable clinic in Brighton UK 3 hours drive away from me.

This was another leap of faith ignoring my own logical mind which needs studys and results and probabilities etc.

To cut a long story short I started the treatment end of Jan and was able to finally get off pred within weeks, slowly but surely I have come off aza and Balsalzide in the last week which got me over the line. I now have been in a very good remission where I am going most days just once a day a bad day is 2. No urgency when I do go twice to the point that I can wait hours!. My confusion is what to do now? I have been on balsalazide religiously for more then a decade but my last symptoms did not go till i stopped this and relied solely on TCM.

Mazin says the philosophy in chinese medicine in colitis is not just to stop a flare and then hold it at bay. They go back and repair the damage so that you don't need maintenance. That is not to say you never have a flare again but that you don't need treatment to lengthen your remission/s.

I am so glad I decided to start the journey and look beyond the conventional drugs. My head has never been as clear thinking, my immune symptom never as strong, my remissions have never been this good. The best I had experienced was 2 a day and some nervousness till the 2nd bm.

I am sorry for the long post, but I stumbled upon your responses and realised how far I have come. I hope this post inspires others who are in the same boat to not give up hope and try things that they may not have thought of. So thank you Mr Ginsburg, even though you did not fix me you were part of the journey that did.

Finally it would have been easy for me to ignore the responses and avoid further ridicule (i am not blaming you guys either I would respond the same 2+ years ago). But i know that fellow sufferers are the only ones who will understand how damaging a long flare can be. I was days from surgery and I am so happy to have avoided it for now and hopefully forever , but who knows this disease is so unpredictable. 21 years of colitis and I thought I had seen it all. Living each day with lots of gratitude and appreciation.

If anybody wants to know more about TCM please ask. If not hopefully it will help some one in the future.

A bunch of haters in this thread. I went to the guy and he did his thing over the cell phone. He was in his car at a stop light. Anyways, he said some magic words and I had a 10 years remission.

I have to call him again for another 10.

I don't believe in long distance healing but I do believe there are things in this world we just can not explain. Whether it's the placebo effect or not, the mind can be a powerful thing.

I have 3 great friends, who are sisters, that are Reiki masters. One of them is an empath. I was very skeptical of all this but I'm starting to come around. One night at a party, I had a few too many drinks and the youngest sister (the empath) coerced me to lay on a table. I was having ankle pain, but no one knew. She hovered her hands over various places. But stopped at my ankle. And asked me if I was having pain there. So she stood there for a while and I started to feel a warmth in my ankle. Now mind you while all this was going on, I was joking and laughing with my friends. I wasn't even paying attention to what she was doing. The following morning I woke up and my ankle pain was gone.

Now, would I go see someone and pay them for doing this? No. Am I still skeptical of all this? Yes. But I have an open mind to the unknown. However, I will still keep taking my meds :)

first, i don't believe in healers, i'm an atheist so i don't believe in any miracles, but i once saw a program about the famous Brazilian healer John of God http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo%C3%A3o_de_Deus_%28medium%29 which impressed me greatly. This man is already treated seriously even by the greatest sceptics, it's something unbelievable!

I used Robert Ginsburg - I don't recommend him.
