I'm not really understanding your question about a vegetarian version of DAO. DAO is a naturally made enzyme manufactured in everyone's body. It has been proven to be lower than usual in UC patients. It is responsible for helping eliminate excess dietary histamines in the body so if you are having a problem with excess dietary histamine in can give you UC like symptoms. What would be wrong with taking a supplement of something that naturally occurs in your body anyway?

i don't think that is the issue - the question is, where does the stuff in the bottle come from ?

Right, if you're not eating animals, and the enzyme is taken from pig kidneys, you're going to want to know that.
