My sons pouch 13th birthday

Or there abouts,he got it back in 2000,his birthday was yesterday and his wifes today.

I remember back then,most young people on there 21st birthday go get wasted,he was getting scoped.

By the time of the colectomy he was a medical wreck.

Anyhow my point is we went out to a buffet dinner tonight,my joy is just to be able to watch him eat,

and eat and eat, we ate for about two hours straight. There is life after real bad UC,and you loose the colon.

So for anyone facing colectomy,all is not lost,life is not over.

As for me I did lots fish,crab,raw fish,raw clams. Raw paleo anyone.

Love this :) Is your son still eating paleo? I think I remember you said he found that was best for his pouch?

Yes still eating paleo,but now he only eats basically one time a day,experimental approach.

Glad he's doing well! I like to hear of people that have had their j pouches for a long time doing well. My j pouch is still a baby....well maybe a toddler now! That's the one thing I cannot do though....eat at a buffet. Well, I can do it but I will pay the price. I don't know what it is...probably the many different kinds of foods all landing in the same place. Maybe when my pouch grows up a little more I can eat at a buffet more comfortably! Happy bday to his pouch!

that makes me happy for your son, mike. i basically know that a bag is in my future someday (unless a cure is discovered) so i like seeing success stories.

Kill:He had open surgery,while today is lapro so it was real tuff on him.
Why fight it,unless it is a genetic program that,which cannot be altered,I will continue to believe that this disease if not cureable might be controllable without meds,by some means. I was cruising along at 32 years old minding my own business,then bam. I could not save his colon,I perhaps cannot save mine,but I also might die trying. I just refuse to believe that these idiopathic diseases are not cureable.
I believe it is modern lifestyle/western lifestyle,starting early 20th century.
A horrible thought just entered my mind,if the immune system is now programmed,to attack the organ then shutting it off by lifestyle/alternative meds, may not work well,Wolfgang Lutz said the immune system never forgets. I can attest to that,I know mine is confused.

Well you are definitely fighting the good fight and I'm glad you were able to spend a lovely evening with your healthy son and the rest of your family.
