I hope someone can offer something.....I knew this flare was coming for about 2 weeks but as a choral director, the end of the school year is really busy so I had to plug on through. Finally last week, I reached a point where I could not eat anything, even water, spiked a temp and bleeding was bad. Doctor put me on pred. and antibiotic--Bactrim, because I have tolerated it well in the past with a MRSA infection on my leg. Fever stopped within 12 hours and started feeling better in 2 days. Then, woke up to feeling like death warmed over. REally nausious maybe the bactrim. I actually ate soup and broth yesterday but today can't tolerate anything. Feel like I am really weak, dizzy, hungry, and my insides keep churning with nothing in them. My husband asked how I felt and I told him I feel like I'm dying. Any suggestions.....I plan to call Dr.in the morn.

Are you taking probiotics to balance out the strong antibiotic? I have taken Bactrim for MRSA and countered it with a strong probiotic taken hours apart. You say fever stopped but what about bleeding? Are you using rectal meds?

The first time I took Bactrim it made me nauseous and weak, so bad I called my doctor wanting to quit and he said OK. Then I saw a different doctor who was appalled that I quit mid-course and told me to finish it, so I did with no nausea. I then took it a few months later with no problems at all. So it could be Bactrim symptoms or the prednisone or something else. Hope your doc has answers.

Just keep up with liquids as much as you can.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't like the sound of what you're going through.

I would push for ultrasound or other diagnostic tool, to check for pancolitis or more serious toxic megalacolon.

If your doc won't do it, can you get to an urgent care center to have it done?
