Hi,

I had a colonoscopy 9 days ago, i was in what i thought was remission or close to. Was tapered down to 5mg pred at time and on maintenance drug asacol. My results were good have gone from all colon effected to only a third at the bottom.

Can someone please tell me it is normal for a colonoscopy to send you back into a flare ? I am back to experiencing mucos and blood in between BM's. I upped my pred to 25mg 3 days ago and this seems to not be helping so today i started 30mg (I hate this drug for so many reasons) There has really not been a concerening amount of blood it is just the waking up in the night to pass mucos and blood :-( seemed to play up at most last night.

I just want someone to tell me they have experienced this, the last thing i want is to go to the hospital :-( This has already taken over 12 mnths of my life..

I have heard others say that having a scope caused them to flare. I was lucky and didn't have it happen.

Yep, always does for me. I have D for at least a week, and the last one put me into a 4 month flare. Hope you feel better soon.

After my last scope in February I bled more too.

I hope it didn't cause you to have a flare but it sure aggravates the already inflamed colon.

I hope you get it under control soon, whatever it's caused by.

Yes. I had a colonoscopy in November and i got into a flare. couldnt get out of it until recently. Had to get remicade, prednisone, and uceris to help me get out of this flare

I am due for a scope but I don't want to do it while in this flare, and I put it off when I was in remission because I didn't want to risk it putting me back into a flare!

Thanks guys !

I guess i just hate seeing blood :-( Seems to be really effecting me in the PM and waking me up at least 3 times to go and nothing but blood, not tons but yeah. I guess i was just worried it may be a perforation but i tend to stress the worst.

My GI is impossible to get in touch with the seceratary always takes a msg.

I am hoping its just a flare i guess and no other complications.
