I was on Wellbutrin for years...prescribed for "depression" which was suggested by my GP becuase of vague feelings of disinterest, fatigue, that sort of thing.
This was many years before UC.
Anyway, last year I had a minor freak out when I realized Nexium might be contributing to my UC by allowing improperly digested food down the line.
I quit taking the Nexium and also discontinued the Wellbutrin XL at the same time because I never really "felt" an effect from it. I have gained 20 lbs since going off of it, so apparently it was having some effect, at least.
Today, I am reading in different areas on HW that Wellbutrin is suspected to have an effect of TNF and some Crohn's patients are successfully using 3x100 mg immediate release Wellbutrin to help their symptoms. The extended release versions of Wellbutrin are not the ticket...
So, I think I will ask my GI to rx it for me at my colonoscopy followup in 10 days.
Any advice, comments or experinces to share?
And, the 2x20 mg prednisone I have been on since Friday has really helped me stay out of the bathroom. I was going 20-30 times daily...yesterday about 8.
