Canine heating pad.....

.......is the best! How does my lab/golden retriever mix know when my gut is messed up and a heating pad is soothing? He snuggles right into me on our water bed (yes we still have one, it's now over 30 years old and we absolutely love it), sometimes he puts his head on my stomach. I want to take him everywhere with me. lol

Anyone else have a pet that seems to zero in on what you specifically need?

He's also my bathroom buddy. Now when we had guests, he expects to go in the bathroom with them too. How funny.

I still have my waterbed too! It's been 25 years :) I will be sad when it goes but as of now, it's still going strong. It's such a comfort, when the belly is aching, I roll over to my tummy and the heat of the bed soothes me.

But my Jack Russel/beagle knows when I'm hurting. When I'm on the couch, she snuggles up to me.

My cat is the best predictor if it will be a rough day. She lays right on my left side when I feel bad and has even massaged my stomach with her paws. And yes, she is right there for me during bathroom trips. She sits on my feet and waits for me. Amazing how pets know when we need them!

My cat always knows when im feeling really bad. She will sit next to me on the top of the couch. Even during my hospital stays, my sister tells me she doesnt move from that spot. Shes my little guardian kitty.

It freaks my new dog out when I'm sick. She knows, but she doesn't know what to do. She's a worrier.

The other dog is not a cuddler. She was trained by her previous owner to be a floor dog, so she gets anxious if you try to snuggle.

I hope to be getting two kittens in a few weeks. Maybe they'll be cuddlebugs :)

Thank you everyone for your replies. Just reading about what amazing pets we all seem to have really got my day off started in a very good way! Pets are simply the best. I can't imagine myself without a dog now. Right this minute my Toby-boy is at my feet, he follows me all over this house. We had a sweet Golden before him, for 11 years but we lost her to cancer. I was her favorite family member too but she didn't stick to my side like this new one does. We all call him a mama's boy and my husband looks him in the eye saying - if you were a human, you'd get beaten up on the playground. He is that attached to me!

Sherry - I have a vague recall we've discussed waterbeds before. Our bed was my husband's first furniture purchase right after college graduation - 1981. We're on our third liner, last time we bought it we had to search online and we found one lone dealer in our area, which of course sold traditional mattresses. The salesman looked as us as we were literally from another planet. I had called ahead of time to make sure they had our size in stock and I suspected they were taking bets on what we'd look like when we walked in the door. The salescrew did look a little defeated when we didn't have hippie garb on or sandals, or whatever image they thought we'd have. I could probably pass for a PTA volunteer (hair cut, a bob, clothing, boring!), my husband had kept on his work pants, kakki pants and a red polo. He looked like he worked at Target (also short hair). Anyway, we walked out with our liner and my husband joked - someday we're going to have to get rid of that bed you know......I say - never! Like you, when my gut is a real mess, oh how I love that mattress. Very soothing.

I have a parakeet and I must say he is 100% clueless when I am an need and never offers either to cuddle or keep me warm. Rather, he uses me for a perch and insists on playing, poops on me, and bites me (man do they pinch sometimes!). And if I choose to ignore him and he wants attention, he either flies right at my face or dive bombs me from above until I relent lol. He does offer some sympathy, a regurgitated seed from his crop (they do this for mates), a sweet gesture that is lost on those who don't understand birds. He must think it very rude that I never eat them lol.
