Does this sound right to you?

I was just released from the hospital after spending 13 nights in there. My treatment that I am to follow is Salofalk Oral every 8 hours, Salofalk suppositories every 12 hours, and entocort 3 times a day and of course a very bland diet....Does this sound about right to you? I ask because its hard for me to communicate to the doctors down here as I am and expat in Mexico and they dont speak English and my Spanish isnt great yet either. Any help would be great. (BTW, swelling is starting to go down, and BM`s arent as frequent and have less blood.)

my whole colon is effected, and while in the hospital i was on 3 types of antibiotics through IV and 3 types of pain meds through IV, along with Salofalk pills. Now that im home, im only on the Salofalk Pills, Enemas and entocort pills, and so far so good....I go back to the doctor in 10 days. They were waiting for my colon to rupture as were prepared to do emergency surgery, however, I starting responding to the meds and they decided to wait and see how well i do. Its just hard because the doctors dont speak english therefore i need to bring a translator, and im just afraid something will be lost in translation and I will be told the wrong doses or something. I was just concerned that maybe i was taking too much Salofalk as im taking 2 types of the same medication, just in two different places in the body.

There are hundreds of different treatment combinations for UC. Every doctor has their own plan. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. As long as you are going in the right direction I guess that's a good thing.

Thanks so much, I feel a lot better knowing that taking them both isn't going to be too much. Another question that may sound silly...but because it's extremely hot here, I live in Cancun, the suppositories melt, can I keep them in the fridge? Or do you think that's a bad idea?

Yes, jojo - keep them in the fridge. I just got my first package of Canasa suppositories (same thing as Salofalk - mesalamine) and the storage directions in the pharmacy PI say to refrigerate (keep them between 36-77 degrees F / 2-25 degrees C).

It was "funny" when I picked up my Rx b/c the pharmacist couldn't find the package at first - they had stored them in the fridge there, too...
