summer - whoa, I never did an enema before my surgeries, for maintenance like you're describing. I did have a flex-sig before my cancer was diagnosed and did 2 back to back, over a 2 hour span. But that is the only time I ever remember doing them and I only did so because of my prep schedule.
Back when I did do them, post-resection, to clear out the gunk, once a week, they worked for about
2 years. My surgeon gave me the green light for doing them but then a few lasted nearly a day and my hands/feet went numb - this freaked me out. My husband stood by and said - why are you doing this to your body?
So now I don't do them, I implement other tactics to have consistency, stool wise. They are listed in my bio.
You can really deplete your body of necessary nutrients and electrolytes (why I think my hands and feet went numb once), so to do enemas w/o a medical dx or approval from a physician, is risky I think.
