There should be no problems of 6mp and pred. interacting. The reason your doc switched you is likely because you weren't getting results with Asacol 800.
Are you not using mesalamine enemas? Canasa, a suppository is not good enough when flaring unless you are having no blood at all. When bleeding you need mesalamine enema. If your doctor says you don't then he/she is wrong and you need to find a doctor who will prescribe them. Mesalamine enemas have very few (almost no) side effects and treat the lowest area in your system that no pills ever reach. You will get improvement using them.
