typical response to treatment?

Hi all, I am new to this fabulous disease, diagnosed on June 13 of this year and I am not sure if I am having a good or not so good response to my meds.
My main symptoms have been bleeding and mucous, although I was making between 4-6 trips to the bathroom as well before I was diagnosed (via colonoscopy). Since then, I was put on 4.8 g of lialda and after two days the rumbling pretty much stopped but the bleeding didn't. After going through a week long trial to get SF Rowasa (allergic to sulfites) my Dr. finally put me on cortenema for 3 weeks.
I just finished a week with both meds and I am bleeding way less, just a few drops of blood, but I am still making 3-5 trips to the bathroom today (with soft, formed stool, I never had D!).
So anyway, does this seem like a good response to the meds? I would call my Dr but of course, he is on vacation so I can't ask him now.

Sounds like your on the right track. I do agree with Kazbern the mesalamine rectal is the way to go. The steroid ones are good short term for sure.

I'd nix the Canasa for a while yet since you're doing well with the oral/rectal approach. The enemas will still help with the urgency...it's just a lower and more localised approach. The supps have their place, and could be used in conjunction with the enemas you're on...maybe for during the day.

momto2boys, it WILL be necessary to switch to a mesalamine enema. Corticosteroid enemas are not meant for long term use, and you will need a long term enema to keep the inflammation in your rectum at bay. Go ahead and get the enemas!
