In a couple of weeks I will be going to the UK for a week for work.  This is my first time travelling overseas let alone first time travelling overseas with UC.

I am a little concerned because the timing of trip is exactly in the middle of my next Humira injection.  I certainly do not feel comfortable packing a needle, but I am afraid to miss a dose (I currently am on 40 mg every other week).  I have some extra pred that I could use.  I am deeply afraid of having an accident or a flare while I am away. Should I just take 10mg of pred everyday then get stop and resume my Humira when I return or should I just pop an imodium everyday with my daily dose of Lialda?

I plan on having a conversation with my GI before I leave in 2 weeks, but I figure I would ask the braintrust first. Thanks for the help.

Ask your GI for a statement on his letterhead paper attesting that you need to travel with an injectable med-- so that you can get your Humira kit past airport security/customs. At least you're going to an English-speaking country which also has many inhabitants with IBD, rather than to a remote backwater. No doubt other forum members can give you additional advice regarding Humira use during trips. / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I traveled with Humira from Germany to the USA. I also had a letter from my GI. Just make sure you cool it well enough.

Don't worry, we have hospitals and doctors and chemists in the UK should anything bad happen, rumour has it we're not a third world country. You'll be fine. Have fun

I didn't mean that to sound sarcastic, just meant you're coming to a safe place with good healthcare and you've nothing to worry about in that respect.
