Is tinea connected to uc

I have tinea on my foot and its recently spread slightly to my fingers...I guess while I was treating my foot...just wondering if its connected to having uc at all? It could just be coz I work out alot I got it on y foot initially lol..,but just wondering if its connected at all..,google doesn't help lol

yes, if I remember my anatomy classes from junior high, the feet and hands are connected - but at my advanced age, I need google maps to figure out how ????

aside from that perplexing issue, uc messes up everything - that much I know - your whole body chemistry is wacked out -

put some cream on them and move on to the next uc pain-in-the-ass crisis ;-)

I don't believe so. My daughter had it and she doesn't have UC. You're talking ringworm yes? Btw, she got hers too from working out and using gyms.

Tinea is easy to get rid of. Selenium sulfide 2.5% lotion for 7 days. You can just pick it up at the pharmacy without a prescription unless you live in the U.S. where you will need a script.

I doubt it is related to U.C., but I have had it on my chest at times during hot humid weather.

Im gonna be a rebel and say, yes. It can be related to UC. Often what happens outside of you tells you alot about what is going on inside of you.

Since it's a highly contagious fungus....it's not because you have UC.  Anyone can get it.

ringworm isn't candida
ringworm is fungal, candida is yeast....we're talking about ringworm in this thread...no?

Yeasts ARE fungi.

Rashes can be caused by a variety of fungus.. People call anything n the foot tinea but it is a broad term that encompasses many dermophytes and fungii..Candida being one, the most researched and it typically goes hand and hand with other fungal skin infections. If the original poster has had a tissue scraping or biopsy that specifically Ided a non candida fungi, then I'd be curious what the fungi is. Trycophyton does not usually attack the hands, but candida does, often as a form of Id reaction. Maybe the original poster has two forms of tryco.. Unlikely.. It's more likely systemic yeast manifesting in multiple locations.

my question is, why do some docs have or take the time to actually aks questions instead of just handing you a piece of paper to give to the farmacist ? do they care more or is it they just don't have the same number of patients to deal with as the script writers so they can spend more time with each one ? I know our health care system is a mess, but it doesn't have to affect everything does it ?

I think tinea is more likely to break out if you have gut dysbiosis (e.g. Candida overgrowth). So it may be related...

Thanks for the input guys... As far as I know it's athletes foot/ tinnea....am using cream ...almost gone just wondering if its coz of my uc I got it in the first place. ..the creams working tho so that's good lol

I got tinea on my back from laying in a (obviously unsanitized) tanning bed. Ironically, a lot of ppl get it from the ocean and I lived in Hawaii & never got it until moving to Missouri! Use selsun blue shampoo on the affected area (esp at bed time), wash your clothes & sheets thoroughly, and stay out of the sun for at least a cpl of weeks.

To answer your question, having a suppressed immune system may make you more succeptible, but since you're not taking immunosuppressants (right? No meds?) I highly doubt that UC has much, if anything, to do with your tinea. In fact, many people with autoimmune diseases find they get sick LESS because (as in UC) we get sick because our immune systems overreact. Immunosuppressant therapy is what causes increased infections (outside the GI tract) not the disease it's self. Good luck!
