sedation never kicked in!!

So the sedation must not have worked for my c-scope. Sat through the whole thing wide awake looking at the screen. Thought I was watching youtube!!!! On the plus side it lasted 10-15 mins and I did not feel a thing!

Outcome "still a bit active"....but 6 years ago is was moderatly severe pancolitis so I'm taking that to mean things haven't gotten worse at least.

I asked about joint pain...been a lot on here recently on it and GI said he'd be inclined to believe joint pain is driven by UC in a patient than neccessarily something more rheumatic.

Up to max dosage of Asacol and if it gets worse its imuran time!!!

All in all not unhappy with everything espeically as I got 6 really good years. I'd never fear a c-scope again

I just had mine and made him promise to NOT touch me until I was out. Glad that you had a good report. What prep did you do?

I love propofol, I would NEVER do it without the drugs! More power to you though!!

Just played 9 holes of golf with a friend. Can't believe I had a colonscopy 4 hours earlier!!! My friend who is a male nurse made a good point. How anxious would I be if I thought I was in a room with no sedation and having the scope done. Ans: 10!! I'm an axious person. How anxious was I in the room looking at my colon on the screen and hearing the GI talk details with the nurses. Ans: 1!! So my friend makes the point that even though I wasn't knocked out or groggy that really the drugs had totally make removed my anxiety. Should prob change the title of my Topic so. Still impressed at lack of grogginess, being so relaxed and being able to play 9 holes!! It was like "there's my colon, HELLO COLON, just like on youtube, theres the waves of colon tissue, he's moving round a corner now...!!!"

I used Moviprep. The nurse gave me great advice. I have a really bad gag reflex and that is my biggest concern with preps. She said fill a litre of cold cold water. Take 3 swigs of Moviprep mix and swallow really quickly. Immediately fill your mouth with the cold water. Hold for 3 seconds and then spit out. The last thing your gag reflex can remember is cold pure water and it neutralises the bad lemon tasting prep that has just been swallowed. It worked a treat. Had no issues with gagging. The clearout wasn't so bad, some gas etc but happened over a 2 hour period and fine for the night.

In Ireland we have to wait for all technical reports on ammount of inflammation from our local doc. THe nurse said the scope didn't look too bad. The GI said he still thinks a max shot of Asacol is worth a try before the immunosuppresents (I was on one third of the max dosage for 6 years). My UC is a funny beast. If I can get it into remission I feel I can handle my stress, diet, meds etc to keep it there.
