Anyone never been in the hospital due to UC?

I have not either but I am also newly diagnosed.

nope, me neither. I was hospitalized for strep pneumonia & sepsis from a Remi infusion received while I had (unknown, undiagnosed) pneumonia to begin with. And I was flaring pretty bad at the time. But never hospitalized simply for UC. I'm the type who's basically been in a low-level flare for years.

Anyone that has never been to a hospital because of UC doesn't have real colitis.

or has a water down version...like you know ...diet Pepsi. Diet Colitis.

Once you have the real thing, you'll be going.

Yes last year once for uncontrolled diarrhea spent a week then I had a reaction. To a remicade infusion was not fun for an 80 year old grand mom who was healthy till I was D x with U C last August been on so many meds that did not work now on humira every other week it is slowing the BMS down

I was hospitalized one time due to UC, indirectly, but without UC, the incident would not have happened. During a colonoscopy, the GI removed a polyp. No big deal, procedure was fine, I went home, all normal. The next day at work, I started to feel woozy and had some urgency, went to the bathroom to find I was having a huge amount of bleeding, crazy blood. I had one good friend there and I got out of the bathroom and grabbed her and told her she had to get me to the ER. I thought I was going to pass out but I made through the cab ride to the ER (NY city). They saw me relatively quickly and did some tests and admitted me to the hospital. The GI said he had to take a look via colonoscopy, so I got to my room and they immediately started me on the prep - Go Lightly, remember that awful stuff? - and I had the pleasure of two colonoscopy's in three days! Turns out the site of the polyp that was removed was over a blood vessel which then bled presumably after I passed some food over the site. It did clot itself and stop bleeding on its own thankfully.
So, UC related but not due to a horrible flare.

I've lost count of the number of times admitted... somewhere around 8 or more over the last 10 years that required a min of overnight stay just to monitor symptoms/tests etc. It sucks... The disease sucks..

I haven't been. I came close a few years ago when I was anemic and severely underweight but luckily I was able to get back on track with UC meds and I stayed somewhat stable since. I've had a lot of ups and downs but it hasn't progressed to that point.

Yes, I was in the hospital for 4 days in a steroid IV. MRI or Cat scan (can't remember) showed my colon was blown up like a balloon. That is how I first figured I had it. I had a colonoscopy the day I got out.

Yep, twice this year alone.  Total of 24 days!

Only once for IBD complication of a systemic rectal abscess

I haven't ever been in the hospital. A doctor tried to get me to go once, but it was only because he had no authority to get me in for a flex sig soon when I was flaring and he said if I checked into the hospital they HAD to give me one.  Our medical system at work there - telling you to sgo to the extreme and spend tons of money just for something you should be able to do without a hospital stay.

Oh, and I did end up in the hospital last month after my 10th colonoscopy. Not sure what that was about, but I'm not in a flare-up right now.
