OM, I beleive this is exactly what happened to me. I had a massive die off in the form of terrible gas right after eating anything which lasted for 5 months..I was then on a antibiotic for a finger infection then the gas stopped not long after mysteriously. Then not long after that I had a flare which put me in the ER. Anyways my main point here is this. Our diets and perhaps a FT would be the only way at this time to reverse this imbalance at this time. This is why many have success with FT like you said but how about
the other side of the coin? Those who embark on the extremely tough road of food elimination? I am refering to the extremely tough SCD diet. I really believe that it is the only other way to get back this imbalance by feeding and promoting good and starving bad bacteria. I am sure many tried SCD and then stopped because they didnt do it long enough to get past the die off or the tipping of the scale in favor of the good bacteria direction. And then of course those that start to feel better think they are ok and eat like the old days and basically going back to square one.
Logically the SCD makes perfect sense and is the best diet for accomplishing this wouldn't you agree? I will say that there are no exceptions and you have to follow it exactly as mentioned but for how long must vary for each of us. I am really thinking now that the SCD and time...providing you do it exactly as prescrbed may be our only hope as of right now until they know more. Here is a quote from the basic SCD diet..I mean after watching this video and reading this quote it almost says wake up and try it as hard as it may be.
Quote
" The allowed carbohydrates are monosaccharides and have a single molecule structure that allow them to be easily absorbed by the intestine wall. Complex carbohydrates which are disaccharides (double molecules) and polysaccharides (chain molecules) are not allowed. Complex carbohydrates that are not easily digested feed harmful bacteria in our intestines causing them to overgrow producing by products and inflaming the intestine wall. The diet works by starving out these bacteria and restoring the balance of bacteria in our gut.
The Specific Carbohydrate Dietâ„¢ is biologically correct because it is species appropriate. The allowed foods are mainly those that early man ate before agriculture began. The diet we evolved to eat over millions of years was predominantly one of meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, nuts, low-sugar fruits. Our modern diet including starches, grains, pasta, legumes, and breads has only been consumed for a mere 10,000 years. In the last hundred years the increase in complex sugars and chemical additives in the diet has led to a huge increase in health problems ranging from severe bowel disorders to obesity and brain function disorders. We have not adapted to eat this modern diet as there has not been enough time for natural selection to operate. It therefore makes sense to eat the diet we evolved with."
