Done with Remicade

My antibodies were very high after the Prometheus test. Next up Simponi most likely.  Currently fighting C diff and Salmonela with Flagyl, cipro, and Vancomycin.   Talked to GI tonight and he is sending me to another specialist for an upper Gi this week then another Colonoscopy next week. After that will meet with this research specialist at the hospital(Baylor) who is into the research side of things. Man I can't catch a break!

Yes I am messed up physically and mentally. They want a good look inside to see if something besides UC is causing problems. And of course the C diff and Salmonella.

I was going to congratulate you, but then I read the rest. I'm with Somedude, that's bloody messed up. have the doctor's offered FT? Definitely demand it, buddy. You need a darn break.

feeling at least 50% better now that I am off the Flagyl for 1 day! Think the Vancomycin is working on the c diff and the Cipro on the Salmonella. Flagyl just sucks the life out of me. Looking at an upper gi and colonoscopy in mid Sept now with the specialist at Baylor in Downtown Houston with a specialist. Simponi might be in my future

I am male 38 Dx with Pancolitis and currently on remicade with little help, guess better then nothing.
I need help with SCD, thinking to incorporate that with treatment to see if I can achieve remission.

Saw specialist at Baylor downtown and was duly impressed. She was very patient and ask a ton of questions about my UC history. Plan going forward. Drop pred 2.5 mg every 5 days, get blood and stool test to check status of C diff and salmonella. Will continue Vancomycin for a month then taper it over another month or so. Finish Cipro( 2 weeks). Adding cotrafoam enemas twice a day followed my mesalamine enemas once a day when I can tolerate the quantity(that's gotta make a lot of people here happy!). Cancel colonoscopy and upper gi till further notice. Go back to DR in 5 or 6 weeks. We also talked about Remicade antibodies and she said they are discovering that the antibodies come and go and it may still be able to be used. Just because they are high does not mean they stay high. So for now we have to get rid of the infections before we can really tackle my UC.

Anyone know if there is any kind of discount card coupon for cortifoam?

Yes but the waiting is so tough. Few months of waiting don't seem like much but it has been such a long year with this. At least I am able to go back to work and she said the enemas should reduce my urgency some.
