Struggling with UC flare

I've had a flare with my colitis for the past 2 weeks, have chronic pain and diarroeah, to the point where it's like I'm preparing for a colonoscopy - that's how liquid my stools are.

Everything goes through me that I eat and I feel like my bowel is moving around inside of me :-(
It's affecting my moods too, I'm so moody and overly sensitive and needy when I'm going through a flare like this... Does anyone else experience this?

Is there anything anyone can suggest to help? I don't know how bad I'm supposed to get to go into hospital... ? Even though I don't want it to get to that case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ps I'm on the SCD diet and have been since April and not taking any medication ATM.

Maybe you need to get on Prednisone or Uceris so you can get yourself under control. I would call your GI.

I'm so sorry your uc is so bad. If it were me I'd call my doctor and have him get me on meds right away. I've never been hospitalized for my uc so I'm not sure when that is necessary. Good luck!

Why aren't you taking any medication? It's almost always a mistake to quit taking meds. Obviously the SCD diet is not helping you.

I was in tears when I called my dr yesterday! So yes it's normal to be emotional!

I have been diagnosed with UC for 5 yrs. When I moved to south of DFW in a rural area and did not have insurance they gave me 60mg prednisone for the last 8 months. I'm out in the woods and not many docs to choose from. I finally switched doctors but just had a flare and ended up in hospital for 5 days on antibiotics and pain meds. Colonoscopy overall came back decent, I was starting to feel better. After 2 days at home Pain came back quick with alot of blood in my stool, dr said go to er and they said it was withdrawal from pain meds. I'm worried about what's really going on? Any similar stories?

Thanks everyone for your feedback....

I'm not on medication because it makes me MORE sick, always.... I get rectal pain and migraines, mood swings etc.

It's a double edged sword really, I know alot of you will understand this and how yes the meds can help but they only suppress the issue.
I feel so much empathy for anyone that's been in hospital with their UC, it must be so hard.. I struggle everyday, but I havnt ended up in hospital (yet)
The SCD diet has been Working but my body is super sensitive now to anything that's excluded from the diet(ie wheat, dairy) dairy KILLS me.....

Has anyone heard of professor Thomas Borody? I have an appointment booked for an Info session into what he does with FMT therapy....

I totally understand. Like totally. LOL

No seriously I'm going into my 5th week..lots of liquid coming out. It's very weird and scary.

My doctor's office should have the results of stool specimens this week, but it could just be plain old wonderful colitis! I'm still managing to get to work day after day. I pretty much empty completely out....an then go to work.

This is pretty much a been there done that story for me. It's a waste of time for me to be depressed about it, or also become "poor me." Yesterday I saw a severe head-on collision on a street right near me and I'm sure someone died because of the police tape being there about 5 hours. Sure I have this ugly colitis to deal with 4 hours per day but that could've been me in that accident!

I guess I'm the glass is half full kind of guy. Any guy that concocts eggs masks to try to look healthier has to be that kind of guy! LOL

I'm SO sorry to hear that you have been flaring for 5 weeks....
Have you seen a functional health doctor instead? I know you may not believe in this approach (or u may) but I think that's helped me a bit...
Also, the SCD diet is pretty helpful if you can abide by it. Maybe try that to see if it helps....
I believe there are better things out there for people like us. This can't be it.
