Literally passing water as stool! Anyone help?

Hello all,
It's been a while since I've posted. Was on a course of pred all of June & both my joints & bowels got alot better. However slight symptoms started up 2 weeks ago. But nothing too bad.
I basically wanted to ask since Saturday evening I've been throwing up & I'm literally passing water as stool. I'm sure it resulted from some kind of bug or virus as my dad was ill on Tuesday & Friday my husband was throwing up & had diahorea. I think he passed it on to me. I've found out my whole family was effected but it's cleared within 48 to 72 hrs.
Has anyone experienced water literally just water as stools? I'm so frustrated as I know now my UC will not recover so I'm back to square one.
I see my gastro on Friday il ask him to take a sample. But in the mean time does anyone have any advice. I'm not vomitting anymore just the diahorea is really bad. Trying to salvage my remission but I think it's too late! :(

I am not a clinician, but if I were in your shoes I would at a minimum CALL my doctor .. sounds like you are facing severe dehydration

Call your doctor NOW to quickly pick up stool sample kits (plural) for you and your family.

You should have the results by Friday.

What you all have is passed on from hand to mouth. So, hand washing, separate towels or paper towels for hand drying will be a good thing. Clean the toilet, flush lever, door handles, light switches and enforce to your kids how important it is to close the lid BEFORE flushing the toilet at all times.

Are you taking any probiotics? if not...get your whole family on them.

Thank you both for your replies. I will see someone first thing tomorrow.
I've been drinking alot of water but not eating because of the nausea.
I'm taking extra precaution with sanitation thank goodness my 2 yr has not been affected.
Will let you knw the results. Just hope my UC won't be effected. Wishful thinking.
Quincy I'm from London, what probiotics do you recommend?

Hmm, I have no idea what are in London...are the ones I use in the UK?

Maybe list a few health stores in your area with links and some of us could go over it to suggest some to start with?

My son had a major vomitting/diarrhea but week and a half ago. No one else got it. Thank God. I agree with the adding in a probiotic. I myself would probably take some immodium.

Are we allowed to use Imodium? I thought with UC it may cause complications?

Imodium can be dangerous if there is infection.Toxic mega colon is a possibility...the drug slows the D, but don't do it until you know if you have a virus.

I myself have never had a problem with Immodium. I only use it or prescription Lomotil if I am having D. I guess I am of the type that I try not to over analyze every time I have D or feel sick. Yes I have UC but I also can just be having a bad day or have a stomach virus. If your worried about the immodium ask your doctor for lomotil and or bentyl.

Don't ever take Imodium if you think you have picked up something. Whatever it is, you want it out, not to stay in.

Probiotics...I haven't checked your site yet..will do later today.

Spent a day in a&e today got some samples taken & bloods along with some iv fluids. Doc thinks it is a virus that has triggered my UC & that my meds haven't bn absorbed for the past few days.
Haven't experienced bleeding until today. I'm really upset I'm bk to square one again. I've only been in remission for 2 months. It's so frustrating!
My crp is 94 which isn't gd, I can feel my joints are not great either.
I see my gastro on fri, hopefully I can reel things in again. Going try some probiotics. & up my sulphasalazine dose.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

WBC was normal, iron levels etc all normal. So basically I'm flaring again!
Had a good cry earlier, endless merry go round!

Sorry to hear it, I take sulfa salazine too, just curious what your dose is, I was flaring when I started it and still am. Have to say I have no aches and pains though. I was never diagnosed with a joint problem but I have always had ciatica since I was 17 off and on.
