chronic illness and low grade fever after going off mesalamines

I was taken off of over 8000mg daily of mesalamines about a month ago. ever since, I've had chronic sinusitis and a recurring low grade fever (99.6-100.5), even with two rounds of antibiotics and tylenol. Is this an auto-immune disease flaring or is it all coincidence? Scope is a month from Saturday. I'm having blood work next tuesday, but until those come back, I have nothing to go on. has anyone else experienced this?

What's the 8000 mg mesalamine.....oral plus rectal?

Why were you on the antibiotics? sorry, I cannot remember.

Hopefully, the blood-work will zone in on something, but you need to call your doctor today and try to get in to see him before the tests. He might need to do more specific tests added to the others he has listed for you.

antibiotics for the sinus infection. the mesalamines were all oral. i had 2000 or so mg of pentasa twice daily and 2000 or so mg of asacol HD twice daily. they're doing testing for my stomach as well as a CBC and other testing to make sure none of the meds i am on are affecting any major organs like my liver. I've been to the primary care twice and she seems to think the antibiotics will work, but I don't know how well she understands UC.

I'm on nothing for the UC right now because of that dumb prometheus test, but i haven't ever been on rectal meds.

I'm definitely looking forward to your results...but I think you do need to talk with your doctor sooner than later.

Low grade fever is typical with a UC flare, if you have active inflammation.
