FDA grants priority review status to vedolizumab for ulcerative colitis

Good news that the FDA is fast tracking the review. This one seems like it could be safer and possibly more effective than remicade, humira, etc.

Yup great news on this one! And also on the developments on fecal transplant. Following it. Any further news on Indigo?

I still remember years ago, when I was fairly newly diagnosed and very sick, reading that some researcher in Japan had developed a drug that selectively suppressed part of the immune system and that might prove to be an effective treatment for RA, IBD and other AI diseases. That turned out to be Remicade.

We're entering a new world of possibilities for those of us with UC.

I certainly hope so.  I've only been diagnosed for a few years but I've gone through most of the available medications so far.  Next up is Simponi for me.  Then probably Vedolizumab and if that does not work, lets hope there is something else out there.

This may sound like kind of stupid advice but in my younger days I used to have a lot of trouble swallowing pills, particularly ones that were kind of sticky and not smooth. I had the mental thing going on too. I taught myself to put the pill on the far back side of my tongue, almost to the throat. I would then swallow some water and poof, the pill was gone before I even knew it.

I'm in exact same boat. I'm going to try a low dose of pred for awhile and if that doesn't work going to give Simponi a try. Then Vedolizumab.
